Calcium Propionate is a vital food preservative (identified as E282), mainly used in bakery products as a mold inhibitor (i.e. bread and baked goods), meat products, dairy products & whey to promote food preservation and extend the shelf life. Also Calcium propionate is widely used in feed additives as a feed supplement and to prevent milk fever in cows. It is white granular or powder.
Calcium Propionate is one of the safest food additives, approved globally without any ill effects on human health or otherwise. Its rate of use in food is between 0.10-0.40% while in feed additives, it can go as high as 1%.
Calcium Propionate is formed by the reaction of Calcium Hydroxide & Propionic Acid.
Propionates have the same effect as Benzoates in preventing microbes from producing energy they need, but unlike Benzoates, they do not require an acidic environment.
1. In Food Industry:
- Bread and baked goods.
- Preserved meat products.
- Dairy products (processed cheese).
- Chocolate products.
- Jellies & Jams.
2. In Feed Industry:
As a preservative and mold inhibit added to animal feed.
3. In Rubber Industry:
In manufacturing Butyl Rubber.
-Plastic paper bag or three layer Kraft paper bag, net weight of each is 25kg.




7-15 working days after deposit.
- Keep in cool, dry and ventilated place, away from light.
- Avoid mixing with poisonous, peculiar smell and colored powder.
